Right smack in the middle of the political silly season, when lies, damned lies and statistics are tossed around by candidates for election, a bunch of other people - most of whom you probably don't know - are having a high old time doing the same thing.
The difference? They're already in office, and the topic of their verbal dueling will affect the bank accounts of all Rensselaer County residents.
County Executive Kathy Jimino, normally a rather restrained creator of budgets, wowed 'em last week when she proposed a 2007 county budget that would hike your taxes 25.9 percent.
