Vic: Airport rail link scrapped

MELBOURNE, Jan 18 AAP - The Victorian government today dumped an election commitmentto build a rail link from Melbourne's CBD to the airport, saying it would not attractsufficient patronage to make it financially viable.
Transport Minister Peter Batchelor refused to release a patronage study by consultantsBooz Allen Hamilton, saying the study was a cabinet document and commercially confidential.
Mr Batchelor said the government had decided the rail link should not be built forat least 10 years.
