One restaurant, Kettle Restaurant, on West 22nd Street west ofInterstate 10, failed its initial inspection in November by the PimaCounty Health Department.
Problems arose as weekly food supplies were delivered, owner SamSadi said. The problems were corrected and the restaurant scored"excellent" on the follow-up inspection.
An inspector noted the restaurant, at 748 W. 22nd St., did nothave signs warning customers of the risk of food-borne illness fromraw or undercooked foods such as steak and eggs. There was a noticeon old menus, but Sadi said they'd been changed. The restaurant nowdisplays a warning sign near the cash register, he said.
In addition, a cook was observed handling raw meat with glovedhands and then cracking an egg without removing the gloves, washinghands and putting on a new pair of gloves. Sadi said the inspectorsuggested the cooks use tongs to work with the food so they can movequickly from task to task without changing their gloves.
The inspector noted foods in the walk-in refrigerator were abovethe required 45 degrees or lower. Sadi said the door was open asfood products were delivered.
"When she came the next day, it was fine because the door wasclosed," he said.
