More firms join baby care fray

CDR Roundup--William Carter Co., a leading manufacturer in the nearly $9 billion infant and toddler clothing market, is about to see how well its trade name transfers to baby toiletries.

The company has licensed its name to Gerwin Inc. of Dover, N.J., for a line of five different baby care products called Carter's Naturals, which are being introduced this month in drug, food and department stores. Heading up the new manufacturing and merchandising effort are Gerwin president Gerald Dubin and executive vice president Rose Mary Worthen.

The five products in the line are baby shampoo, baby bath, baby lotion, baby oil and vegetable jelly. All are hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic …
