Vic: News Ltd gets station distribution deal for new paper

MELBOURNE, Feb 3 AAP - News Ltd appears to have gotten the upper hand in Melbourne's
looming giveaway-newspaper war by securing exclusive rights to distribute on the city's
rail network.

The company's Herald and Weekly Times (HWT) group today announced the coup in its Herald
Sun newspaper.

"This is a great advantage for us and our customers," HWT managing director Julian
Clarke was quoted as saying.

The announcement comes as both News and rival publisher John Fairfax Holdings finalised
plans for their soon-to-be launched …
