NSW: PM says need for second Sydney airport unlikely
Campaigners against aircraft noise say Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD is dreaming if hethinks Sydney doesn't need a second airport.
Mr HOWARD has said it's unlikely Sydney will ever need a second airport, because oftechnological changes and larger aircraft.
His comments have dealt another blow to people living under noisy aircraft flight paths, coming just weeks after Labor promised not to build a second airport at Badgerys Creek.
No Aircraft Noise president ALLAN REES says the issue is not whether the airport cancope, but whether people living under the flight paths can handle increased traffic andnoise.
